The truth promise
The total price, or an honest “we do not know”.
Tripnorm’s decision engine refuses to guess. This is the promise in plain language, and why uncertainty is visible in the product instead of hidden behind fine print.
The total price is the main number
Every card shows the total price for the whole stay as the primary number, with the price per night as support, not the other way around. When the fees behind the price are confirmed, they are shown separately; when they are not, we say so directly instead of pretending the total is complete.
Three states, not two
Most sites show cancellation terms as either “yes” or “no”. Tripnorm’s engine has a third, real state: unknown, and that is not a bug or a workaround. An unconfirmed condition must never pretend to be known to be good or known to be bad.
A concrete example: if you request flexible cancellation but a hotel’s terms are unknown, the engine counts that as a disqualifier, visible in the score and rationale, never hidden in a footnote.
What we never promise to do
Never call anything the “best price” when the total price is not fully confirmed. An incomplete price automatically loses points in the risk adjustment and is never tidied away.
Never show a raw provider code (“amadeus-seed”, “emergency-snapshot”) as if it were a review. Every source receives a readable, honest label in the interface.
Never invent a trust figure. The public time-to-decision number appears only when at least 20 real decisions sit behind it. Below that: no number at all, never a guess.
Never guess a cancellation date. An unknown cancellation deadline is shown as unknown, never as an invented date in the downloadable calendar file.
Never pretend an image is something it is not. With live prices the hotel’s own image is shown via the booking partner and labelled as such; in reference data the image is a curated stock image, clearly marked “Stock image” on the card.
Never book at a different price than the one shown. The price is checked again with the booking partner in the booking step, and if the hotel changed it the booking stops so you can see the new price.
What we measure and never see
Tripnorm measures its own accuracy through internal events: a search started, results shown, a card selected, a decision made and how long it took, your yes/no feedback on a selection, whether you opened the partner and whether you booked, plus search phrases where we did not recognise the destination. That is all.
Your search history, overview and reference/cost-centre field are stored only in your browser (localStorage), no account, no server, nothing Tripnorm can read.
Before you leave Tripnorm
The booking sheet shows the total price, dates, guests and terms again before you book. With live prices, booking is completed directly and the price is locked with the booking partner before anything is charged; with reference prices, the partner’s page opens, where the binding terms are shown.
